New In Town?

Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo and Bensalem Council would like to take this occasion to welcome you to Bensalem Township. Bensalem Township, incorporated in 1692, is a thriving suburban community, just outside Philadelphia. Bensalem Township has no incorporated boroughs within its boundaries; it consists of a group of communities, each with its own identity and community life, including churches, schools, fire companies and other community activities, joined together in one larger municipal body called a “Township”

62,900 people call Bensalem home. Perhaps you’re the 62,901 person to live or work here in beautiful Bensalem. As you browse through the website, you will find useful and pertinent information to assist you with the transition of becoming part of a new neighborhood. Listed is a variety of information including Bensalem’s 300 plus year history, to “Who picks up my trash”? And everything in-between.

Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo, since being elected to office in 1994, has brought forth some of the most popular and historic changes of any prior administration. As the Gateway to Bucks County, Bensalem is a friendly place to live and work. Throughout DiGirolamo’s administration, his goals of aggressive programs that target the quality of life issues and the ultimate protection of the health, safety and welfare of Bensalem’s residents, has proven extremely successful (we are known as a “Community of Firsts”), and you will see why as you continue to browse our site.

The Township, even with the overall less than favorable  global economic climate of these times, remains fiscally strong and responsible. Not only did we spend less, we were able to expand services, hire employees and expand services and provide a considerable amount of capital improvements.

Mayor DiGirolamo promotes an “open government” and encourages residents to become involved with the community. Again. Welcome and best wishes for a happy life in
