The Bucks County Commissioners, Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo and the Bensalem Council work together on a variety of issues that are important to residents and businesses.
The Bucks County Planning Commission assists all municipalities with review of development plans and ordinances. The Bucks County Open Space Program supports municipal open space plans and provides funding for local purchases of parklands, passive recreation areas, natural resources and other properties that protect the quality of life in Bensalem and all of Bucks County. The redevelopment of neighborhoods, the economic development of communities, and the emergency dispatch of all fire, police and ambulance services are all provided in partnership with county government.
County government also collaborates with Bensalem Township on initiatives including the promotion of small businesses, the provision of a wide array of human social services, transportation services (Mayor DiGirolamo spearheaded the Bucks County Transportation Management Association), and community health advocacy.
