Township Ordinances No. 89-03 Codified under Chapter 107-5.2 of the Bensalem Township Codified Code Requires all Residents, Commerical and Institutional Entities to have Solid Waste, Reycling and Yardwaste Collection Service. Chapter 107-5.2 prohibits the dumping of municipal waste or source-seperated reyclables and prohibits the burning of any source-separated materials including leaf and yardwaste. Any Person who shall violate any provision of the Ordinance can be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $1,000, plus costs, and in default of payment of fine and costs, to a term of imprisonment not to exceed 30 days.
Yard Waste
-Leaf and yard waste will be collected every Wednesday from April 1 to December 15 (or Thursday if so instructed by your waste collection hauler).
-During the months of January, February and March, Bensalem residents may drop off leaf and yard waste at Waste Management's compost facility at Tullytown, PA.
-Leaf waste includes leaves, garden residues, shrubs, tree trimmings and similar materials but not grass clippings.
-Residents may set out leaf waste for collection at curbside in biodegradable bags or other container approved by your trash hauler.
NOTE: Haulers will not pick up leaf waste that is in plastic bags.
Private Collection
Trash and recycling collection is provided by private haulers. Trash haulers in Bensalem Township must provide both trash and comingled recycling collection as part of the normal collection fee. They also must provide at least one collection each of leaves and garden materials, tree trimmings, and Christmas trees.
